This seems to be a continued practice of Harrah’s Las Vegas, as I have seen many reviews of discrimination against people of color coming from this organization. We were dismissed without an apology (we don’t want it now) or any remorse, it’s simply because organizations such as these don’t care for people of color whom they can’t control (i.e. If it wasn’t for the meeting I had to attend to, I would request the amount I paid be reimbursed and would gladly pay a higher price anywhere else. Keep in mind, the other woman was allowed to leave, but my husband and I were not and were confined to the area until the security supervisor was called. Joanne was nowhere to be seen during this transaction but yet knows for a fact that I am overreacting and racial undertones were not the reason for the police to be called on me. The Front Desk Manager was called, Joanne Birch, who then proceeded to gaslight me, by stating the situation was “not as bad as I’m making it” and “there was no race involved”. This woman’s husband walked over to her and said “did you skip the line again?” And they casually strolled off. A swarm of police officers arrived and of course surround the “angry Black woman” and allowed the white female guest to continue her transaction with no missed movement. At that point Andre picked up the phone and called security as the female guest began to call me a bitch multiple times. She refused to move, I then forced myself into the space so I could hand the lady my documents and CC. Andre whispered something to the other woman and I yelled loudly EXCUSE ME to the woman standing at the wrong counter. The woman Andre was helping was standing in front of the woman who was helping us and did not move when we were called. I began speaking to my husband about us not being helped in the order of the line, wondered (out loud) what the problem could be, when another front desk rep came to assist us. We waited and a front desk rep by the same of Andre arrived at the counter but called someone else behind us to assist them. The kiosk didn’t accept our reservation, stated someone will assist us. Check-in was 8 August 2021, there are several kiosks in the lobby for guests to check in/out.
